(Upon receiving the entry forms, the Lee CTA will fill out the       Section Name, NJTL Name, NJTL ID# and send the entries on to USTA National.)

FREE TRIP TO THE BILLY JEAN KING NATIONAL TENNIS CENTER!

Several parents have already volunteered to chaperone this trip, but all parents are welcome to accompany their child. Be sure to sign up everyone who plans to attend, so that we do not run out of bus seats.

 To help commemorate the legacy of humanitarian and tennis great Arthur AsheUSTA/NJTL sponsors an annual essay contest, which is open to all USTA/NJTL participants. (If you participated in one of our Lee CTA Youth programs over the past year or plan to enroll for a program this year at any of our sites, you are a member of the Lee CTA/NJTL Chapter.)

The essay contest is open to contestants 18 and under, in five age categories, divided into boys and girls.

 DEADLINE: Entries must be received by the NJTL Chapter Leader, Bunnie Lahey, by June 25, 2014. They can be mailed to Lee, CTA, PO Box 188, Lee, MA 01238 or hand delivered to 110 Mill Street, Lee, MA. They can also be turned in to Kathy DeVarennes, Teacher, Lee Elementary School.

Write an essay on one 8 ½" x 11" paper in 350 words or less answering this question:

Arthur Ashe used his time and skills to impact others - how have you used your time and skills learned through tennis and educational programming to impact the lives of those around you?

PAST WINNERS

In 2013, we were proud to have one New England Sectional winner, Hadley DeVarennes, Girls 10 and under. Local winners were Madeline Von Ruden, Girls 11/12; Ben Ames, Boys 10 and Under; CLICK HERE to read Hadley's winning essay!

In 2002 New England Sectional winners were Mike Murch, 16; Kristen Berry, 12; and Laura Toomey, 10. Local winners were Andreas Naranjo (16U Boys), Amber Bitso (14U Girls), Peter Choi (12U Boys), Rebecca Strock (12U Girls), and Samantha Rydell (10U Girls). New England Sectional winners were Amber Bitso, Peter Choi, Rebecca Strock, and Samantha Rydell.

 

 Above are the 2002 Berkshire County & USTA/New England Winners with the local contest judges.
