2014 AUDIE FURGAL TENNIS CLASSIC The 3rd Annual AF Tennis Classic was a huge success, drawing over 90 players in 11 divisions playing at 8 sites throughout south county. The auction and luncheon helped us earn over $10,000 for the beneficiaries: Porchlight VNA / Homecare and Lee CTA Youth Programs. A huge thanks to all the donors, underwriters, sponsors, players, and volunteers!
2014 SPRING YOUTH TENNIS Over 100 children participated in the Saturday morning and afternoon tennis programs at Lee and Lenox sites. We have a great coaching crew and look forward to continuing with these kids throughout the summer and all along the youth tennis pathway, from Ten and Under Tennis, through Middle School Tennis and JR Team Tennis, until they reach high school and college tennis, then on to a lifetime of tennis! The season ended with the tennis kids, coaches, and mascot marching in the Lee Memorial Day Parade while demonstrating their tennis skills and hitting hundreds of tennis balls to the crowd.
2014 SUMMER TENNIS We had 236 adults participate in adult leagues and on teams. Their membership and program fees helped subsidize the 199 children from ages 5 to 18 years, who participated in our spring/summer youth tennis lessons, tennis academy, and USTA JR. Team Tennis. We added Ten and Under JTT competition, competing against a team from Sheffield. Our U14 JTT team, coached by Wilson Tan, placed 2nd in the JTT Western Massachusetts Championships. Children who participated in our Arthur Ashe Essay Contest were awarded a free trip to Arthur Ashe Kids' Day at the Billy Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
2014 FALL TENNIS We participated in the Lee Founders' Weekend for the first time. Our events were a Tennis Play Day and an Vintage Wooden Racquet Tennis Tournament.
