US Open story

The Sept. 1st US Open Trip was a sellout, as always. Of course, we attended on one of those most brutally hot days, but no rain! Joanne Barker & Millie Kirby were the lucky winners of the President's Box raffle, so they had an unbelievably deluxe day. (By the way, the raffle earned over $2300 for our youth programs.) Us other 53 peons saw lots of top players close up on the many outer courts and smaller stadiums. Can't wait until next year!

Since Millie & Joanne were two of the privileged few to see the inside of the President's Box, many were asking about their experience as guests for the day. Here is what Millie had to say:

Attending the U.S. Open as a guest in the President's Box is awesome. You receive a formal invitation in the mail and when you arrive you're provided with anything you might need for your comfort from straw hats and sunscreen to lots of ice cold water (temp in 90's).

The main room is very large with groupings of sofa's, chair's and coffee tables with bowls of fresh fruit and at one end of the room is an open bar.  There are lots of staffers, all friendly and eager to help to make your day complete.  The room faces the court and when you step outside a staffer escorts you to your courtside seat.

And the luncheon, wow, the dining room is elegant with each table set with bowls of fresh flowers, china, crystal and linen and each table has its own server.  There is a lavish buffet with more servers to help. The word 'luncheon' is really too simple for what they provide.  It's like being royalty for a day.

All this and lots of great tennis to watch.

      It was a perfect day.
